Book Review: sTORI TELLING by Tori Spelling

toriHer successful, rich and famous producer dad, the infamous feud with her mother, my teenage obsession with 90210, her seemingly down-to-earth, witty girl charm, and the general riches to rags (of course her family’s rags would be my riches) story of her life in spite of her family’s immense fortune. These were some of the reasons I was compelled to read her first book. I have to say I was a little leery going into it. I mean, who doesn’t have a book these days? Seems like anyone who has ever had even a little tiny bit of celebrity has one. But I found her book to be surprisingly relatable for just about every girl on earth. There’s something for everyone. A love story. A not so love story. Major communication issues with her parents. Who can’t relate to that? Crazy roommates. Job struggles. An overall theme of young, naive, non-confrontational, insecureĀ girl turned older, wiser, less non-confrontational, not quite so insecure woman who knows what she wants and goes for it. And in the middle of all of that she manages to find the love of her life and have 2 kids. I think this book helps tear down the pedastal that our society seems to put celebrities on. It’s witty and emotional. It presents her as a real person with faults and insecurities. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a light, quick read authored by a down-to-earth celebrity who doesn’t mind making fun of herself and exposing her imperfections.
